Assemblage of Beauty
A mosaic is an assemblage of beautiful pieces; Montana Mosaic is much the same. Comprised of magnificent artworks from over 100 local artists, the business itself is a work of art. “What we always hear when people walk in is, ‘Wow,”‘ says Carolyn Brown, owner of the Great Falls art emporium. Brown has owned Montana Mosaic since 2014. The business has resided at its location in downtown’s Time Square building since 2015. Currently, it is the largest Made in Montana store statewide, with two floors of unique and unbelievable art. “We showcase the best that Montana has to offer,” says Brown. Montana Mosaic features a wide range of arts, crafts, and products, with a variety of merchandise that anyone can afford. Soy candles, dustpans made from Montana license plates, and
agate slice nightlights are a few of the unique and affordable items available for sale. Lotions and soaps from Giffen Coulee Body Shop are also popular, as are crochet hats and baby booties from Divine Creations. In fact, the store has an entire section of locally made apparel and jewelry. More traditional art includes paintings, pottery, and photography from dozens of Montana artists. Montana Magic Moments turns photography into wall hangings, ornaments, magnets, and bookmarks. Montana Mosaic also sells functional art like horseshoe coatracks, painted glassware, and SAW Industries’ exceptional repurposed lamps. Inventory is constantly changing and growing. People often pop in to check out the new works from After Image Metal Art and metal artist Alex Smithson (who designed many sculptures along the River’s Edge Trail). “We represent a variety of mediums and styles from everyday talent to uniquely talented artists,” says Brown. The store has such an incredible inventory that it has the potential to overwhelm; yet, it’s been laid out in a way that feels inviting and uncongested. Like a gallery, the store has a comfortable flow that guides visitors gently through its two floors of treasures. Montana Mosaic is like an art show—one that’s open six days a week. “We guarantee you’ll walk away with something,” says Brown. Montana Mosaic is located at 525 Central Avenue in Great Falls.
